Description
Our seas and oceans are the last great under-developed resource in the modern world, particularly with regard to the exploitation of fisheries, mineral extraction, sea bed rights, oil and gas and strategic access, at a time when the idea of sustainable development is becoming rapidly established both nationally and internationally. As a result and in an increasingly competitive international environment, states are trying to ensure that their increasingly complex littoral regions and offshore zones are secure and economic, social, environmental and security issues are managed as part of integrated marine approaches. The sea also represents considerable opportunities for illegal and illicit activity, notably, but not exclusively, by pirates, terrorists and criminals, but also through the exploitation of the high seas and ungoverned marine space associated with rogue and failing states.
Focus
Maritime security is gaining prevalence globally as terrorist and Piracy activity increases. The threat to maritime assets is of great concern all across the global maritime operational picture. This event will bring together key stakeholders from Industry and Government organizations, from the United States, Canada NATO and other European nations. Special focus will be given to the increasing terrorism and Piracy threat in the Maritime domain and also the recognition of the increasingly vulnerable maritime industry.
A Pre-Conference full day live demonstrations will be held at the Allied Maritime Component Command (CC-MAR Naples), that will feature the latest technologies focusing on Counter-Piracy and Harbor Protection.
