Analysis of free radicals, radical modifications and redox signalling 2011In view of the growing importance of redox signalling in biochemistry and pathology, the development of robust methods for accurate determination of cellular levels of free radicals and oxidants, as well analysis of biomolecule oxidation, is critical in the field. This meeting will focus on state of the art methodology for these areas, and discuss the limitations and pitfalls therein. The aims of the meeting are therefore to provide the participants with an enhanced understanding of (1) the best methods for measuring reactive oxygen species and nitrogen species, (2) modern approaches to detecting specific types of oxidative post-translational modifications, (3) methodology for analysis of lipid oxidation products with relevance to signalling. This focused meeting will be of prime importance to all researchers in the oxidative stress and redox signalling areas.
