The 22nd Biennial Congress of the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (AAPS) is unique in many ways. This is the first time in 44 years, the AAPS congress will be conducted in Malaysia. The scientific program is comprehensive in breadh and depth. The themes of the congress - Recent Advances and Long term results - are chosen to provide continuing medical education to all the articipants. There will be Suruga Guest lecture, State of the art lecture, symposium, video presentation, free papers and poster sessions Papers will be selected for publication in a dedicated issue of Pediatric Surgery International. Abstract will be published in a supplementary edition of Malaysian Medical Journal.
For the first time, we are introducing two young Investigator awards - one for clinical and another for laboratory research. We encourage the participation especially the postgraduates and young surgeons less than 40 years to send their papers. We have taken great efforts to reduce the registration fee for delegates and postgraduates - thanks to a generous grant from University of Malaya.
Malaysia is honored to host this 22nd Congress, at Kuala Lumpur - the melting pot of major cultures. Malaysia is a tropical paradise. It is the gateway to South East Asia and the Pacific rim countries. Mountains, valleys, sandy beaches, islands,highlands and tropical rain forests with its unique wild life and plants welcome you. On behalf of the organizing committee, University of Malaya, the Ministry of Higher education and the Ministry of Health Malaysia, we welcome you to Malaysia. AAPS along with WOAPS is striving hard to bring quality care to the children of Asia, especially in underdeveloped regions. This Congress will provide everyone with an excellent opportunity to build strong networks, to improve the exchange of knowledge and skills. This will help to build bridges between developed & developing centres.
We invite you to submit your papers to the congress. We look forward to a scientifically and socially fruitful, and rewarding Congress. As local organizers, we will do our best to make your stay in Kuala Lumpur a memorable event for years to come.
Our ultimate Goal should be provision of high quality care to all children with surgical problems by trained pediatric surgeons, under all conditions, at all places and at all times.
