Canberra historian, filmmaker and author Mr Matthew Higgins talks about his book Rugged Beyond Imagination.
About the talkMr Matthew Higgins`s Rugged Beyond Imagination is a history of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) high country, with an emphasis on peoples` relationship with the mountain environment.
`Australia has precious little snow country and it is in the mountains that we see a really distinctive relationship between people and the Australian environment,` says Mr Higgins.
`The mountains helped to shape people`s lives in a whole range of ways.`
Mr Higgins shares with our audience the story of the research and travels that brought this publication together.
About the authorsMr Matthew Higgins is a Senior Curator at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra, ACT, recently curating their major water exhibition Water H2O = Life.
Mr Higgins is also an accomplished filmmaker, and winner of Best Short Film at the 2007 SCINEMA Festival of Science Film.
