Maintenance of national roads have been neglected for many years, which means that the need for large investments and to increase safety on the roads deteriorate. Operation and maintenance issues are important for a functioning infrastructure. In an attempt to catch up with maintenance, the Government is investing 753 million kronor in the period 2009 to 2011 to bring forward maintenance activities and increase the pace of implementation of ongoing projects.
