The last few years have seen progressive changes in our approach to fungal disease. Greater understanding of recent scientific advances has led to incorporating this data into strategies for patient management. Our meeting this year features special lectures prepared in collaboration with professional organizations, a new keynote lecture, and a review of practice-changing papers, providing many opportunities for the dissemination, discussion and debate of the new medical and scientific information. As an integral part of the meeting, researchers working in the field have the opportunity to interact with colleagues and share their endeavors with the healthcare community. We invite you to participate in this year s meeting by submitting an abstract of your work to be considered for presentation.
A great deal of thought went into formulating not only a stimulating scientific program, but also the preparation of a most enjoyable celebration of 20 successful years, which will give participants the opportunity to experience the collegial atmosphere that has made Focus on Fungal Infections a must attend meeting. New Orleans, with its many attractions and the focus of so much attention by medical mycologists following Hurricane Katrina, will provide the ideal forum for scientific exchange.
