The inaugural Gender Equality in Higher Education 2011 in Sydney will look at the challenges and issues faced by women employed in the higher education sector
Gender equality continues to be an issue for Australian women, particularly those pursuing academic careers and those participating in more traditional male disciplines and in Vocational Education and Training (VET) fields. Women are failing to crash through the glass ceiling in Australian Universities with Melbourne University the only Group of Eight institution where a majority of senior staff are female.
