Future Seamless Communication (FUSECO): Evolved Packet Core Evolution and Seamless Multimedia Application Platforms
The trend towards All-IP networks in fixed and mobile domains, also referred to as Next Generation Network (NGN) and Next Generation Mobile Network, and the increasing demand for the efficient support of multimedia services across various wireless and wireline access networks is accelerating globally. For example, with the intended role out of new wireless broadband access networks, such as the Long Term Evolution (LTE) or WiMax, the interworking with existing 3G, 2G and WLAN access networks becomes crucial. Along with the evolution of the wireline core network and emergence of new overlay control networks, such as the IP Multimedia System (IMS), the wireless domain intelligence is moving out of the different access networks into a common Evolved Packet Core (EPC).
This new IEEE workshop series on Future Seamless Communication (FUSECO) is intended to bring together academia and industry and to provide a forum to debate on the research challenges related to integration and interworking of various access network technologies into an evolved packet core as well as the provision of various IP data and multimedia services, such as voice, rich media, as well as emerging mobile cloud services. Please note that this new IEEE workshop series does not start from scratch. This workshop can be seen as a continuation of different previous events from the US and Europe within one new global workshop series.
We hope you will contribute with a technical paper submission to solid workshop program and/or we will see you in beautiful Miami in December 2010.
