Dear Colleagues,
Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP) is a non-governmental organization that is engaged in cancer control especially in the Asia-Pacific region, where we encounter more than 60% of all cancer cases. As the Director of the Cancer Control Department of the Ministry of Health of Turkey, I had been elected to be the president of APOCP. Therefore, the 5th International APOCP General Assembly Conference has been decided to be held in stanbul. This meeting will be held in L tfi K rdar International Convention& Exhibition Centre in stanbul on April 3-7, 2010.
The first week of April is also the National Cancer Week in Turkey, and this coincidence offers a great opportunity for the activities aiming at raising cancer awareness.
Owing to the oincidences with Istanbul s becoming a European Capital of Culture in 2010 and the National Cancer Week , there emerges an opportunity for the implementation of a great project that will bridge the continents for cancer control methodology.
While highlighting the issue of cancer, we will also bring forward the city of Istanbul by means of its history, and the issues of arts and sports by means of people s living spaces. Above all, we aim to unite all the world s countries and continents in stanbul in a single body gainst cancer.
We look forward to seeing our friends from all over the world, who aspire to fight against cancer, in Istanbul on April 3-7, 2010 for this crucial event.
I hope you will enjoy being in stanbul, where the continents meet through the magnificent Bosphorus.
