Description
The French Society of Hypertension, branch of the French Society of Cardiology, is a professional and scientific society based in Paris and founded in 1975. The Society is run by a Council represented by 24 members and elected for 3 years. The French Society of Hypertension is a member of the European Society of Hypertension and of the International Society of Hypertension.
Nearly 350 Cardiologists, Physicians, Nephrologists, Pharmacologists as well as Scientists in relevant fields are members of the Society. The French Society of Hypertension has promoted since its inception medical and scientific knowledge in the field of hypertension. Every year in December and for the past 28 years, more than 1000 people participate in the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society in Paris.
The French Society of Hypertension has 3 main objectives :
to give support to young researcher via grants
to support the circulation of information on hypertension via continuing education
and finally to enable scientific exchange via working groups
Besides, the French Society of Hypertension has taken an active part in the European Society of Hypertension and its meetings. Several guidelines and working groups have been produced in common in order to give competent advice to doctors specialised in hypertension throughout Europe.
The Society edits a scientific journal twice a year (also available online) where scientific articles, reports and reviews are published : "HTA info".
