The Changing Landscape of Urologic Oncology 2010:
Initiating Systemic Therapies, Interventional Skills, and Clinical Trials
The specialty of urology has always been innovative and dynamic, combining surgical expertise with a multitude of office-based therapeutics. Recent advance in the therapeutics of urological malignancies, specifically prostate and renal cancers, has transformed our treatment armamentarium. There have been significant changes in how we can manage our patients with both advanced stage prostate and renal cancers. This course is designed to assist the urologist and urological practice which wants additional information regarding, 1) systemic therapies of urological malignancies: better understanding of both the clinical and practical aspects required for instituting a systemic therapy; 2) urological interventional therapy: specifically, a hands on lab experience to learn percutaneous and minimally invasive approaches to accessible renal lesions; and 3) clinical trials: understanding the why and the how for initiating a successful clinical trials program, presented by experienced academic and community urologic leaders. The urology landscape has changed and will continue to do so. We must remain adaptable in order to maintain the vibrancy of our specialty. We look forward to your attendance and input at this highly interactive course.
