Description
This seminar will examine new approaches to improving graduate employability, and the growing role of internships in bridging the gap between university and employment. It will bring together policy makers from across Whitehall with key stakeholders, including employers, universities, students and commentators. Discussion will reference the Association of Graduate Recruiters` Winter Review, due to be released in February 2011, detailing the latest levels of graduate unemployment. Sessions are expected to assess the impact increased student numbers are having on the value of a degree and whether graduates are leaving university with the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Innovative approaches to graduate development from across higher education will also be considered, as well as evaluating funding arrangements for interns and ways of increasing access to the leading placements for graduates from low-income backgrounds.
