Description
This seminar will consider the role of innovation in the food chain in the context of climate change and the need to sustainably increase food production for food security. The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment expects to complete its inquiry into Innovation in EU Agriculture by Whitsun 2011. Including keynote addresses from members of the Sub-Committee, this seminar will examine the principal conclusions of the inquiry and the implications for future policy development. Taking place against the backdrop of the Europe 2020 Strategy for Growth and Jobs, discussion will consider the policy frameworks necessary to support innovation, build effective networks for knowledge transfer and develop the UK skills base in food and agriculture.
