Description
This seminar will bring together key policy makers with stakeholders to examine Government proposals to implement a permanent cap on non-EU immigration as of April 2011. Scheduled to take place shortly before the proposed permanent cap is due to come into effect, the seminar will assess the likely socio-economic implications for the UK, and reflect on the interim restrictions already in place. Sessions will address likely challenges that lie ahead for the business community; how universities and science communities can continue to attract the best in their fields; and implications for the future provision of public services - and will include an international perspective on UK competitiveness. The seminar will also assess the details that lie behind the design and implementation of the cap, and discuss future challenges for immigration policy.
