Westminster Legal Policy Forum Keynote Seminar: The future of the legal aid system - challenges, priorities and finance 2010

This seminar will offer a timely opportunity to consider the future of publicly funded legal services - as the Government begins its "fundamental look" at legal aid with the aim of creating a "stable and sustainable system providing access to justice for those who need it most". Discussions will focus on what reform is necessary to guarantee access to aid, whilst ensuring the system remains financially sustainable for the future. Sessions are expected to examine the role legal aid plays in ensuring access to justice; the challenges a limited budget poses to the provision of quality local aid; and how recent changes to the tendering process are likely to affect both law firms and legal aid users.
