In the year 1991, the four pediatric burn surgeons, Martin Meuli from Switzerland, Helmut Lochb hler from Germany, as well as Anna Maria Tamisani and Giovanni Andrea Grisolia, both from Italy met for the first time in the Swiss Alps to share their experiences in pediatric burn care. This small meeting in a small country was the hour of birth of the European Club for Pediatric Burns (ECPB).
Although the ECPB now counts more than 400 members and its Workshops and Congresses have collectively gathered about 3000 participants from all over the world during the last 18 years, the Club still possesses all features of a cozy club (and this is the very forte, the power, the muscle of the Club!): Friendship, intimacy, transparency, and abundant confidence, all nurtured and carefully cultivated over many years in an ambiance of mutual understanding and respect, like in a big-familiy setting. The Workshops and Congresses organized by the Club always were, still are, and shall be meetings with a unique atmosphere, created by the attitude of the members and energized by our common mission: To promote and improve comprehensive
pediatric burn care worldwide.
