Description
We are living in a world which is changing dramatically, where a variety of new challenges are emerging for our mental health and several factors which used to facilitate our coping with adversities are becoming less effective. We psychiatrists cannot ignore these changes and the ways they are affecting the epidemiology, phenomenology and treatment response of several mental disorders.
The transition period which several Eastern European countries are undergoing, with its impact on the mental health of the population, is a good example from which we can take several lessons.
This WPA Regional Meeting will give visibility to the experience of colleagues from Eastern Europe and, at the same time, review the impact of sociocultural and economic changes and their implications for psychiatric practice, research and services in several other areas of the world.
Armenia, an important bridge between East and West and a fascinating country, rich of culture, natural beauties and vibrant humanity, will be an excellent location for the event.
